Privacy Policy

How Riprap Estimator handles the information it needs to run — written in plain terms, no boilerplate.

01Overview

Riprap Estimator is an engineering calculator for erosion-control riprap sizing. This policy explains what information the app touches, how it's used, and who you can contact about it.

We keep this simple by design: the app is a calculator first, and it collects the minimum needed to make that calculator work.

02What We Collect

Data	Purpose
Project inputs length, width, thickness, material, velocity, wave height, costs	Stored on your device to run calculations and populate your project sections. Not required to be sent anywhere for the core calculator to work.
AI suggestion inputs the same project figures, when you use the AI placement/safety suggestion feature	Sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. See §3.
Device & usage data device type, app version, crash logs	Standard diagnostic data collected via the Google Play platform to keep the app stable.
Advertising identifiers	Used by our advertising partner to serve the in-app banner ad. See §4.

We do not require account creation, and we do not collect your name, address, or payment information — cost figures you enter are project estimates, not transactions.

03AI-Powered Suggestions

The app's site-placement and safety suggestions are generated using Google's Gemini API. When you use this feature, the project figures relevant to that suggestion are sent to Google for processing and a response is returned to the app. This happens only when you actively trigger the AI feature — not in the background.

Good to know Google's handling of data sent to the Gemini API is governed by Google's own privacy terms. We don't control or store that data beyond what's needed to display the response to you.

04Advertising

Riprap Estimator is supported by in-app advertising. Our ad partner(s) may collect device identifiers and usage signals to serve and measure ads, in line with standard Google Play advertising practices. You can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time in your device settings.

05Where Your Data Lives

• On your device: project sections, saved inputs, and calculation history stay local unless you export or share them yourself.
• With Google (Gemini API): only the specific figures needed for an AI suggestion, only when requested.
• With ad partners: device/advertising identifiers, for ad delivery and measurement.

We do not sell your data.

06Your Choices

• Skip the AI suggestion feature entirely — the core calculator works without it.
• Clear or delete project sections from within the app at any time.
• Limit ad tracking through your device's ad settings.
• Uninstalling the app removes locally stored project data from your device.

07Children's Privacy

Riprap Estimator is a professional/technical tool intended for civil, geotechnical, and construction use. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

08Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a new feature changes what data is collected — we'll update the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
